It's easy to forget about the long-tail ramifications of things and also immediate familial pressures when I'm being worked for literally half of the entire day -- and getting paid for it, too. Monotony is good. Soreness is good. I weaseled my way out of the gym today (the means of which impressed even my sly coworker) but I'm nevertheless sore everywhere from steam-ironing couture.
There's a definite correlation between the effort I exert (pure effort, not just pretending to do things at work) and my peace of mind, both short term and long term. I need to keep this in mind for the future.
